Details

The DS200SDCIG2AFB General Electric DC Power Supply and Instrumentation Board serves as an interface to DC2000 drives. It contains several fuses that you can replace if needed with each fuse having an LED indicator associated with it that is lit when the fuse is blown.

The fuse functionality is as follows; one fuse is for the 115 V power supply, another for the positive signal power supply, a third for the negative signal power supply, one for the 15 amp NRX assembly and one for the 10 amp NRX assembly.

It is best practice to allow only trained individuals to service and install this board to avoid safety hazards and any loss in site operations.

If you suspect that the board must be replaced, first disconnect all power to the drive in which it is installed. Then access the board and test it to make sure no electrical current remains in the board. Only then can you touch the board and inspect it. The individual that handles this board should be familiar with the equipment as well as proper protocol in managing the hazards of working with high voltage equipment and understanding the steps required to avoid injury and to avoid damage to components and other equipment.

The GE DC Power Supply and Instrumentation Board DS200SDCIG2A serves as an interface to DC2000 drives.

The DS200SDCIG2A is a static-sensitive device, meaning that any static electricity that builds up in it might cause damage to the board or the drive in which it is installed. There are a few guidelines you can follow that apply to handling the board before you install it. Static electricity can build up in you as well as the device, so try to refrain from walking around before the installation. When you do touch the board, only hold it by the edges and not touch the solder or components and make sure only one person touches the board to limit the exposure to static electricity.

Most importantly, only remove the board from the static-protective package just before you install it and plug it directly into the drive.

As you inspect the DS200SDCIG2A you’ll notice that the board has 5 fuses that protect the board from over-current situations, short circuits, and defective MOV assemblies and SCR packages. As a feature to speed up the troubleshooting procedure, each fuse has a LED that lights with the fuse blows. The board has a dedicated slot in the drive cabinet that is behind another board, so you can’t see the LED when lit.

If you suspect one or more fuses have blown, you can remove the board and place it on a clean surface or workbench. A qualified individual can apply current to the board and cause the LED to light.
